Kuwait is nothing but a city, there is no such nation as Kuwait, we are not equal under law, rules don't apply on some, opportunity is not for everyone. but anyone can get a loan to be enslaved by the financial system.

so why do "liberals" stress on national unity?

Because they have no other identity, no other bond to hold a diverse weaver of ethnic groups, but an identity of a fake unity. and thats the problem with a shallow doctrine and mislead followers of the mirage.

If you look at the royals, so to speak, and their continuous effort to promote national unity,at a time of disunity, is nothing but a survival effort.

I dont see the other masses troubled about national unity, they have their tribal bond.

the future will continue like the past. the unification of interest is what will hold the bond for years to come. the gap is growing steeper, God knows when will it collapse.

Yes,.. i dont know what the future is like, it sure is dark. then again there is no reason for it to be dark, if God have bless it with such wealth, why should the future be so dark?

I have came to conclusion that I either have nothing to write about or nothing that I would want to share. So am I selfish for doing so?

I don't know, but the lack of motivation to blog these days really swept into me, there are plenty of issues one ought to comment on. But then again the whole situation of Kuwait is really bad. The future is just dark for my country, our leadership is old and incapable of delivering anything, politicians are childish and stupid, they literally did nothing for kuwait.

I will vote

The religious individual and the dilemma to society

Since religion works on a reward system, more good deeds "7asanat" than bad deed "saye'aat", is good for you and is the only way for paradise, then certainly the more good deeds you do the better of you are once you die. Therefore, all your behavior is influenced by this idea.

So if one had the opportunity to do a good deed, wouldn’t he do it? I would, and so would you. Given that you're a normal human being!

So how can I get more good deeds? Just follow what god wants you to do, do good. That seems easy.

So, if I segregate boys and girls in schools, deny her the right to vote, ban her from driving, like in Saudi Arabia and make her wear the Hijab like in Iran also, soon in Kuwait. That must be good.

Religion needs to function for the benefit of society. The driver of religion was the individually motivated gainer, or the minority group of gainers where as the society as a whole never benefits. And if you pay attention at a micro level, the amount of individuals losing the opportunity of free will and a chance to decide, can lead to a behavior counter to what religion was meant to achieve.

And if you continue to do what you think god wants you to do while you take no notice of the issues concerning society then you are mistaken.

For the past couple of years this phenomenon was successful to do some change yet now we seem to have drained it, there should be some other ways to organize ourselves for a common goal, we still have no priorities set, which is a problem. الله سبحانه و تعالى لا يوجد الاشياء عبثا ، بل يوجد لكل شيئ سبب و المفارقة هي معرفتنا و عدم معرفتنا بهذا السبب. و عدم معرفتنا بالسبب لا يعني عدم وجود ذلك السبب ، لذلك و كما هو شائع عند بعض اهل السنة و الجماعة و المتشددين منهم هو الاكتفاء بتفسير وجود الشيعة بالفتنة او زجهم بمقام الخوارج. و هذا خطأ لعدة اسباب ، و من اهم تلك الاسباب هي بداية الجماعة. البداية لجماعة الشيعة كانت من الصحابة رضي الله عنهم مثل الزبير بن العوام رضي الله عنة المبشر بالجنة ، فهؤلاء الناس كان لهم رايهم بالخلافة و لم يقبلو بيعة السقيفة

يجب التدبر بتلك الحادثة و اذا كان الصحابة اختلفوا الا نختلف نحن رجال هذا العصر؟

لا اظن ان الاختلاف عيب فقد اختلف المسلمون على من هو خليفة رسول الله على مر العصور ، فالحكمة ان يجتمع الشيعة و اهل السنة و الجماعة على من هو خليفة رسول الله و هنا قد يكون الاجماع و ليس بالضروره على شخص يحكمهم ، قد تكون جماعة تحكم نفسها ، او قد يكون نظام حكم مختلف لم يكن مئلوف ، فالمهم ان يكون مقبول لدى الفرقتين

الاسلام لم يحدد نظام للحكم و ترك الامر للزمان و لعل في ذلك حكمة اخرى لكن قيد النظام بالعدل فوجوب العدل في اي نظام للحكم هو جوهر الرسالات السماوية

Ibtihal asks a very difficult question, a question that made me think for 5 minutes, literally 5 minutes, before I can come to a conclusion. Her question is as follows;

If you asked people about their religious authorities their sheikhs, mullahs,ayatollahs, whatever… if your religious authority were to issue a fatwa,which runs counter to the interests of your country, who would you follow?

So my answer to her question would be as follows;

So what if your country acts against the interests of your beliefs, who would you defend? Your country or your beliefs?

Both questions lead to a downward spiral.

I personally believe in God. I also believe in justice and beauty, the current model of a civil state and nationalism needs to be re-examined they are very alien and the move to them was very radical in recent history. As Arabs we lived in shapes of autonomous communities, small sheikdoms and micro communities all over Arabia, there was no "state" therefore we do not really understand what a state is, and what does it want from us, what is our obligation toward it; which can lead us to the understanding of why we refuse to pay tax to our states moreover we find it morally accepted not to pay tax to our states, not to confuse tax with Zakat. If I had the choice I wouldn’t want to be part of any state. I simply want to live in accordance to the commandments of god.

I do not think that humans are liberally mentally sovereign because of their attachment to desire therefore leading humans to misjudgment is very possible.

Well it's about time, little mosque on the prairie, is a Canadian, yes Canadian, sitcom about a small Muslim community living in a rural Canadian town. I watched a couple of episodes so far, I give it thumbs up. It tackles many issues that contemporary Muslim communities face in western countries. It's smart, witty and funny to watch.

And to answer the above question, I frankly think it will get a lot of criticism from my world, it will be labeled as a bad representation of Islam. However anyone interested to know how western Muslims live should watch this show; it really touches issues that have never been touched so openly on mass television.

The country is literally screwed, so why would I worry about the environment if I had no future? With morons in government that can't manage oil revenues to accommodate basic civic needs "housing/healthcare/education" or proper utilities, why would I worry about the environment? I'm beyond worry now; actually I'm in a new stage, numb, how else would I feel to survive.

Maybe someone just finished polishing their fingernails, and then decided, o'what do we do today? what do we do? Let's worry about the environment! They got all excited, so they started a campaign. How about that?

Before asking the public to engage in saving the environment, ask yourself a question, does the country have a future?

I have been having nightmares lately wakening up in the middle of the night. I know many have been having nightmares lately which is strange, could this be some strange phenomenon. I woke up and my hearting was pounding like a washing machine gone crazy. Under such circumstances I think its customary to be scared, but I was upset! Well I guess that’s the new me. To the guy in my nightmare you will not scare me!

على رئيس الوزراء اصلاح النظام الامني بالدولة و ان لم يستطع و بقي جهاز امن الدولة منحرف لا يخدم الغرض المنشئ من اجلة وجب على نواب الامة الغاء هذا الجهاز و ارجاء مهامه لجهاز آخر يحمي امن الكويت

I have been reading through many pro-secular Kuwaiti blogs and I frankly felt a slight militant flavor in their arguments towards religion. Our shameful state of affair probably contributes to your fanaticism about how great secularism might be, how it will be a great boost for human achievement and whatnot. However many of your arguments are incoherent.

No doubt Europe was once in the same situation as we are now, a backward nation. That was because of the catholic religious seizure over all aspects of life. The pope at some period in time prohibited Venusians' merchants from trading with Muslims, very similar to a fatwa if you may; needless to say that the pope also started the crusades.

Many of you believe that secularism, aka separation of church and state, was the reason why Europe achieved advancement. Yet many of you neglect to see that secularism in Easter Europe and Russia led to socialism and eventually failed.

To conclude my thought I can quite comfortably argue that the protestant movement was the first step toward advancement, if not the most important, in enlightened Europe. It broke the monopoly over god. In other words it created a decentralized religious authority contrary to Catholicism.

Elements of a Contemporary Collective Renaissance

Art in my opinion is an excellent gauge of cultural achievement and advancement; all scientifically advanced cultures were producing great humanistic forms of art prior to their scientific advancement. Florence can be a good example as it is widely seen as the starting point of European renaissance. Florence harbored many poets, artist and most notably influential thinkers like Machiavelli, later in other cities Martin Luther, which not only influenced but steered the cultural movement known as the renaissance.

Late introduction of printing press in early 1500 was the vehicle all of those renaissance figures used to deliver their ideas to the general mass; moreover it offered them protection from the Catholic Church brutality at that time, since it is know that the church will not tolerate anyone that could be a threat to it. And since it was obvious that the church may harm those figures, the Catholic Church restrained from such actions.

Censorship in our part of the world calmed or extinguished any effort to deliver influential ideas to the masses, so people would naturally stop reading since there isn't anything controversial to read. For the past 600 years we lacked both influential thinkers and a delivery method which consequently led to our standstill.

Yet it doesn’t necessarily have to be an influential figure in this modern age and obviously it doesn’t need to be delivered through printed press. The collective body of communal thought, i.e. blogging, proved to be very influential in steering society.

Now I find it funny that Machiavelli 500 years ago said "Let not princes complain of the faults committed by the people subjected to their authority, for they result entirely from their own negligence or bad example." Book III, Chapter XXIX

I hope this post makes sense to you. My question would be do we have real art in Kuwait? I find it real difficult for myself to measure art.

Yes, I always seem to start with yes, unlike our government. I won’t complain about the weather, nothing new it’s hot as hell every year so if you’re new here, get used to it, it won’t go away, not until October. And I won’t complain about the political scene either nor the harsh grilling, it was coming sooner or later or whenever people had the guts to speak. It just got delayed for 20 years or so. So what do I think about the whole ordeal? I think it was layered, the publically stated reasons, even though it was factual, was not the real deal. The real deal, so to speak, was the general “hypothesis” that people in government are robbing Kuwait’s oil money, which I strongly believe they are, and since we cannot prove it therefore we’ll question them for anything that we can prove, make them look as bad as possible and then kick them out of government. Eventually Kuwait wins and this will make it harder for people having plans for stealing, especially people from our ruling family.

The notion of law and the perished justice

I think lulu somehow triggered something in me to explore with you some elements that are not apparent to many of you on issues concerning the law. I have previously written a post about the law and how choosing to enforce it or not is not an option therefore it is hypocritical to have laws in the first place if for any reason you choose to enforce it at your pleasure. So why do we have laws then?

A simple answer would be that, we have laws as means for enforcing power yet people in authority tend to use the law as a tool to enforce their will, a dramatic alteration from having laws to create justice.

To complicate the matter more “the fun part”, one may ask, is the law the only way for justice?

Arthur Balfour, the man behind the declaration, was the nephew of the prime minister of the United Kingdom back in the late 18 hundreds, Lord Robert Cecil. Its all nice to have so many shopping malls around Kuwait, this way the crowds get distributed well, I never liked shopping and I hate congested places, thats why I, like many, escaping weird mall creatures, like to shop in the morning, that’s not always the case, I most often end up shopping at the evening, since its more convenient for error.

Let’s hope I can get some free time to visit the new avenue mall, I heard its quite huge!! I’m planning on buying some shorts from gap. Its quite impressive now that I can wear my ghutra and e3gal without looking at a mirror, it takes you quite some time before you can do that you know. However, I wish I can wear shorts and still earn some respect on a typical workday, whats wrong with those people.

Yes, I’m blogitating now, kind of meditating type therapy. Yes she has some good advice.

I think Kuwaitis are a big headache for their rules, they never shut up. And, to be fair our rules never listens. I wonder why? Maybe they want to piss us off.

Whats up with those secular movements! If it worked in the west, it doesn’t mean it will work for us. So don’t bet on it. Islam brought civil rights for many underprivileged people and communities, so it was a good example to follow. Unlike the Catholic Church, it oppressed, and took advantage of the people. Plus, we have no centralized Islamic authority, which means that there is no one single opinion for a given issue.

As a culture, Kuwait recently been introduced to the modern era, thus the dominant type autocracy still is a central theme in our daily life. As a communal struggle continues to enforce democracy and personal freedoms, distinctions do not exist between genders; an equal effort situation to increase freedoms is ongoing.

Ok, some of you might say Noriya Alsadani was a feminist, I would say no; she was more of a libertarian. Like Lowla Alqatami , both were libertarians struggling for personal freedoms.

So to conclude my take on the thought, feminism was never a priority for women to engage in an active role. The popular choice was either motherhood or activism but not feminism.

I predict that we will see a rise of feministic thought, unique to our gulf region. Women will self determine their fate, like us we will not allow a single autocrat to decide our fate. Therefore I see it is only fit to embrace such thought and encourage it.

Why would I want to see a genuine feministic movement? Its not that I care about feminism, rather it is an indicator that we have achieved a great deal in terms civil liberties and personal freedom. Good luck.

Independence my ass, and your ass of course, we are still dependant not on the British but on something else, something else that is not healthy. After all those years our freedom of speech is leashed, we can bark as citizens all we want but we have no tools for action. The main stream media does not support the public cause, all they support is their own interest, not the publics’. Independence from what? We are more dependant today than ever. What did you benefit, you common Kuwaiti? You have a decent 700kd salary, tons of loans to pay, shitty health care system, unreliable educational system, maybe 200 kd bonus every now and then. Overall you gained nothing from the wealth your country discovered underneath except your salary. How lousy, big shot politicians did not achieve anything for you. Money is stolen everyday, I know about it, you know about it, and basically nobody can do anything about it. So are you still independent? Can you do something about it? You are a slave citizen and I’m sorry to tell you that you have been stripped off your civil right to act upon a just cause.

Politically speaking you are useless unless you make a stand. I want change for the betterment of my society.

And I haven’t been doing that lately, it has been as busy as hell I can tell you, but nonetheless one needs the rush, the joy of success, thank god I have been achieving that. As I write this, I’m not really sure if I want to publish my thought out loud, then again as one of you might say; do it its good therapy. So why the hell not!

On the personal level, even though I have achieved a lot of success lately I still feel the lack of fulfillment. I do not feel sad or depressed, I do not feel lonely but what I honestly feel is that I’m loosing on a lot of opportunities and that is due to the complete situation of my country. As if a month in Kuwait counts as a day anywhere else, unfortunately.

Too many thought in my mind right now I cannot even think straight and that’s a sign that I’m drained. Some of you are really nice and sweet people but I’m not here to make friends with you pathetic bloggers however what I value most is your passion and genuine thought of the issue. Thank you for accepting my somewhat arrogant opinion I know it’s not pleasant sometimes, I’m not apologizing, but thanks for your maturity.

The real solution; why middle class is important.

In any society there are many societal categorizations, be it ethnic, religious, educational or based on income and wealth, which is the most important in this post.

The lower class or the unprivileged ones are the group of people being under the poverty line or in other words are in a passive state, many of them in a society is not good, and definitely a burden for any society trying to advance. Moving those unprivileged ones into the middle class is the best thing any successful society can do. I will explain why middle class is important and the more we have the better off we will be.

Islam, in its intent as to my humble understanding, in regards to wealth distribution tried to assist the unprivileged to make it to the banks of mid-classism so to speak. by imposing 2.5% zakat on the rich. It is important to note that zakat doesn’t work like income tax; however zakat is taken out of untouched wealth for a complete lunar year.

Unfortunately the above model of a helpful Islamic way is not possible on an institutional level, while other institutions like Kuwait finance House Islamizing or Islamatizing usury “الربا” and other western banking tools, therefore such practices have the Islamic “endorsement” they need, so why bother and research new Islamic ways while we can tweak successful western ways islamicly?

The middle class has more liberty then both upper and lower classes. While the quest of the lower class for finding wealth and the upper class sustaining it, mid-classers, collectively, are after, or shall I say busy pursuing other human interests and not necessarily wealth. In other words a mid-classer can be an artist and still make a living.

Nobody is filling the real role of a unique individual for an advance society, we have no dedicated artists, novelists, scientists and the list can go on. You are all government employees or if you're lucky a subsidized business employee.

Saddam ruled for 24 years, in Arab standards that’s an achievement, so does our dean of diplomacy hence he was in his post for more than 30 years. Great, so what does that mean? Invasion of Kuwait, half of the Arabs side against us, how is it an achievement? Don’t ask me.

I was watching TV today about how great our new Amir, and quite frankly there is nothing worth mention about his achievements. I don’t think being in the same post for 30 years is an achievement.

Now another achievement reported on TV was how wise was his recent decision for dissolving the parliament. As to the division of the people on the 5 constituency issue, in my opinion I’ve never seen Kuwaitis more united on an issue, and that the dissolution was for the public best interest. Who are they kidding?

But then again I thought, they were not kidding anybody, they where actually just being hypocrites since that was the cultural norm as it is widely practiced and socially accepted.

For the sake of fairness, the man believes in free speech. Or yet I don’t think he really has an option otherwise, in this modern age, well he’s a jolly good fellow nobody can deny.

And finally you can go screw yourself for all I care. So if I choose not to do so, I can still be a muslim and you can too. Just don’t block the roads while you’re at it.

It’s because we’re steering our genius the wrong way! Look at Kuwait as an example. 90% of the populations are government employees; the majority of them are trying to cheat the system to rob public money. What do you think Kuwait will contribute to humanity if this is the case? Where do you think the state of Kuwait is steering the public genius?

Yes you said it, 1001 genius ways to steal public money. This will be our contribution in history 100 years from today, that’s the year 2106; Kuwait will be remembered as the pathetic Arab country that was wiped away by a nuclear blast of Bushahar year 2011.

This wasn’t why I wrote this post. I was actually reading an article about How Islamic inventors changed the world which is pretty comforting to know. We can still contribute if our ancestors did before us. But we need a proper environment so we can flourish, I’m happy with the blogger thing so far it’s a great step ahead its really an effective tool for collective thinking, which by the way, is a tiny part of our problem. Being reluctant to speak your mind, as a cultural norm, is not healthy. That’s a negative cultural influence, especially for women. If you speak you’ll definitely be judged and labeled “khibil” maniac if you did. Most likely blogging is somewhat abolishing the effects of negative cultural influence by widening what our culture perceive as normal and acceptable so to speak.

Pierre Gemayel’s assassination was not a surprise. Along with what I said before we are the least moral of all which again come at no surprise.

Let me start with the law. Unlike the Webster definition of law, comes the Arabic word “Qanoun” law, which to my knowledge doesn’t have an Arabic root, unfortunately the word Qanoun is greatly misinterpreted because of its alien nature to the language and recent introduction to our Arabic vocabulary, similarly you wouldn’t find a unified consensus about the definition of the word democracy. Alqathafy the Libyan leader once said democracy means remaining in your seats ”deemo al-karasi”, a metaphor that means remain in authority. Ironically Qanoun is also a musical instrument, which adds to the flavor of misinterpretation. Qanoun “قانون” is not an Arabic word and that’s why we don’t really know how it’s supposed to be worked. That’s why we sometimes permit our self to override the law and find it morally justifiable to do so, in a utilitarian sense most of the time, however I don’t think Arabs have the disciplines to impose it on their own before others. That’s only a simple dimension of the problem.

I could have lost you my reader by now but that’s ok. Not to worry, all I wanted to say in a nutshell is that Qanoun is not an Arabic word and that is why we have a problem with it.

The problem seems that we don’t appear to understand that the law is a written promise of some sort. Now, according to wiki’s definition of hypocrisy “Hypocrisy is the act of pretending or claiming to have beliefs, feelings, morals or virtues that one does not truly possess or practice.” Isn’t our law hypocritical? Thank god Arabs know what hypocrisy is, that’s because we have a root word for it, not an imported Latin term like “hypocrisis ” or something that could be translated into Arabic and may sound like a meaningless Arabic word “Hibouqratiya” “هيبوقراطية” luckily we have Munafiq “منافق” for hypocrite.

A law that states justice and equality yet discriminates between citizens is just clear hypocrisy.

Choosing to enforce the law or not is hypocrisy!

Well not only us, Jews and Arabs, are the least moral of all races and nations.

That’s why the Semitic race is the sole inheritors of a god given monotheistic message.

In other words, if we, Jews and Arabs, had the bare minimum of morality there wouldn’t have been any need for a divine revelation.

The revelation was gravely important for our existence as a race. Without it I doubt that we, as a race, would still exist to this day.

I wonder how humanity would be without us. It definitely would change the course of history for god hasn’t sent his messengers.

Nibaq I need to have a look at the aggregator’s code. I haven’t touched a single line of code for more than 5 years now, so I’m a bit rusty. The example below will give you an idea of how to organize the aggregator. The whole idea is to make it easy for a reader to identify the most popular post by identifying the number of comments left by unique reader. In other word the most worth reading post would most likely have the highest number of comments by users, if users comment twice or more in a single post, a count will be taken for one. This way you have an alternative way to sort posts that is useful, or at least I think!! I’m not very literate I think writing code in this situation is more rhetoric.

I don’t care if George Bush ruled our country as long as I can pursue my best interest, which is not happening because everything is prohibited “mamnoo3” except for few privileged immoral minority, where as everybody can pursue their best interest equally and fairly.

But that is not the question. The question is do we need a ruling family to do that for us? i.e. enforce equality and justice? Can’t we Kuwaitis take on our selfs?

Their classic argument is that ruling families act as a safety breach for a stable country. As if there was no monarch, a country may collapse. This is true to some extent. However when I think of changing the entire administrative body to the betterment of Kuwait I see my self as not that keen to hold onto our current monarchy I might opt for other alternatives. But do I really want to?

Bloggers loosing interest!

My grand 5 minute analysis of the situation, its quite simple. First of all let’s expose facts, the phenomenon, and with fair assessment, started around 2003, evolved around anonymity, which gave bloggers great freedom by lifting off the socio-cultural restrain i.e. judging individuals by his/her opinion therefore bloggers never had second thoughts about posting a topic, however now with many bloggers no longer enjoy the benefit of being anonymous, the socio-cultural restrain grew into the blogosphere where blogger imported their real identity to their virtual space as a result every word counts and that is why I think they are starting to loose interest.

It is important to have a balanced retaliation-ship where both readers and bloggers remain anonymous; on the other hand if one of them is no longer anonymous the balance will no longer be there.

So why don’t bloggers create a new identity in the blogosphere? The answer is yet to come!!
